About this work

Real cypress leaves, sealed under layers of varnish and acrylic in complementary colors on a wood panel. Two masses meet along a diagonal: a sea of turquoise and cobalt on one side, a wall of red on the other, and a dark seam where they burn into each other.

The leaves give the surface a relief that catches the light differently through the day. One of the earliest works in the studio, and still one of the most physical.

She has taught art history, design, human figure and watercolor at several universities in the city, and her work, shown in solo and group exhibitions, hangs in private collections and homes across Mexico, the United States and Canada.
